Owner / Publisher
Julie is the owner/publisher of the Independent Magazines, overseeing the sales side of the business and managing her own client portfolio. She is an advocate for small business, and a strong believer in sharing positive news and the great stories that happen every day within our amazing communities.
Penny has been writing for the Independent since 2011, taking on the role of editor in December 2015. She also writes a number of stories for the magazine but loves the challenge of working with the team on pulling all facets of the magazine together into a flowing, positive document.
Natalie has been with the Independent since the very first issue in April 2010. Her strength and sanity lies in her ability to juggle all elements of creating ads, designing layouts and producing fabulous looking magazines all while successfully meeting every deadline.
Kelly started with the Hills Independent in November 2016. She works with both Hills and Hawkesbury businesses. Kelly has excellent communication skills and a real knack for understanding small business marketing needs.
Susan joined the Independent at the beginning of 2016 and quickly made an impact on the team and with her clients. Her 15 years of sales and marketing experience means she has the skill to stretch and work with advertising dollars to hit her client’s marketing goals.
Lorraine has been writing for the Hills Independent since its inception and is now whipping up stories for the Hawkesbury magazine too. Her communication and interviewing skills means she can accurately reflect the stories of amazing people doing fantastic work.
Shane has been writing for the Independent since 2011. His passion for sport at the grass roots level shines through in his writing and attention to detail.
Kath knows that being flexible and creative is the key to capturing the wonderful images that run with the feel-good stories at the Independent. Kath manages to capture the personality behind the person we ask her to photograph every time.
